Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park & Optional Iby’iwachu Cultural Village Tour
In Kigali city we pick you up, to start your 2 days gorilla tour in Rwanda with a transfer to Volcanoes National Park. Your 106 km smooth ride to the northwest of the country offers scenic views. At Volcanoes National Park, arrive and check in at the lodge you booked prior. Lunch is here, before you enjoy some time in relaxation mode. Later on, go to the Ibyiwachu Cultural Village for a total immersion into Rwandan culture. Enjoy authentic interactions with the indigenous people and learn more about their tribes, languages and cultures.
A chance to watch electrifying traditional dance performances accompanied by traditional songs and traditional instrument-playing is presented. Unique Rwandan culinary delights at Iby’iwachu village offer an opportunity for exploration. Learn how they prepare traditional dishes. When the opportunity to taste the food comes, take it seriously. The country has passed through a lot of socio-economic and political changes, and some of these stories can be heard from here. Get back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla Trek and Departure
Get early morning breakfast in your lodge as you eagerly prepare for the highlight of the day. Check out of the lodge and drive to the park headquarters where the gorilla trek starts from. Before you follow gorilla trails in search of a habituated group of gorillas, attend a short briefing session. This serves to equip you on matters of safe gorilla treks in Volcanoes National Park. Start to track the gorillas, and soon, you find them. Watch them for an hour or less while they forage, or play or groom each other etc.
Subsequently, return to the park headquarters where you guide meets you. Depart back to Kigali, where your 2 days gorilla tour in Rwanda ends. Before this, we drop you off at either the airport or at your accommodation.
