Overview
The iconic 5 days gorillas and wildlife Uganda safari is one of the best experiences in the country. Explore Queen Elizabeth and Bwindi Impenetrable National Parks situated in the western region for a game drive and gorilla trek respectively. Included in this package is an encounter with the Batwa pygmies and also a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. The entire safari starts from either Entebbe or Kampala and ends there as well. Our knowledgeable guide is available throughout the journey to drive and offer insight about it.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick Up and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
While at your accommodation or after arrival at the Entebbe International Airport, our guide meets you. Get ready for a transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park in southwestern Uganda. From Kampala, the park is 374 km away while you drive in a 4X4 safari car. Pauses for the scenic views, lunch and equator experience in Kikorongo. Enter the park and check in at your pre-booked lodge, with views of the grassland. Dinner and overnight stay is precisely here, so enjoy the rest of your day.
Day 2: Game Drive & Boat cruise in the afternoon
Take some breakfast before a morning game drive in Mweya or Kasenyi. These areas offer vast landscapes where lions, leopards, warthogs, herds of elephants and buffaloes live. Two to three hours of the game drive exposes you to these and more wildlife species. Do not miss lunch at your lodge when you return. Despite the fact that it is delicious, your thoughts should be on the next experience. A boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel is another highlight. Spot birds and crocodiles and hippos, the latter 2 mostly submerged in the water.
Return to your lodge with a lot of photos, that show birds like pied kingfisher, gray crowned crane, saddle-billed stork etc. Relax and enjoy your time there before dinner is served. Overnight stay is at the same place.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Buhoma) through Ishasha
After breakfast, check out of the lodge, prepared for a relatively short transfer. There is no better way to drive from Queen Elizabeth National Park to Bwindi than through the Ishasha sector. The latter houses some of the most iconic lions ever, the tree-climbing lions. Plus, it offers animals like warthogs, elephants, buffaloes, hyenas and Uganda kobs to be spotted. With lunch along the way, continue to the Buhoma sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. It is located just 62.5 km from the Ishasha sector. Check in and your overnight stay follows a delicious dinner.
Day 4: Bwindi Gorilla Trek and Visit to Batwa Community
Breakfast is served right after you wake up to reenergize your body. Head to the Buhoma sector to get a unique opportunity to meet human’s closest relatives in a gorilla trek. You have 1 hour to see them express their behavior in a place they call their own home. This guided adventure also offers a chance to see plenty of other mammals, birds, insects, plants and reptiles among others. Among the wildlife are species like L’hoest’s monkeys, olive baboons, chimpanzees and black and white colobus monkeys etc.
There is a Batwa Community just outside the forest already prepared to welcome you to their village. Head there for a guided visit to learn a lot of things about their nice history, current lifestyles and more. Get entertained while there because these people have some nice traditional songs to sing for you. They also love it if you join them while they clap and sing. Watch them demonstrate to you how they hunted, gathered food and made fire while they still lived inside the forest. Back at the cool lodge, settle and relax while you wait for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Departure and End of Safari
Today, is the last day of the thriller 5 days gorillas and wildlife Uganda safari. Your guide drives you in the car from Bwindi to Kampala, a 469 km journey. With more scenic views and enroute lunch, make some pauses to make your final day a memorable one. The trip ends in Kampala or Entebbe. That is at either your accommodation or airport for a departure flight back home.
